The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has stepped up efforts to ensure that land and transmission facilities are in place for developers who partake in auctions conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), reports Economic Times.

MNRE officials, last week held discussions with the state government counterparts in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to find out how much land each state is willing to set aside for renewable energy projects. Similar meetings with officials from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka would take place soon.

The intent of the MNRE is for the states to identify actual parcels of land where projects can be set up as a result of which the developers will be able to bid comfortably knowing they won’t have to hunt for property.

Gujarat is said to have agreed to provide land for 10 GW of projects while the figures for Andhra Pradesh is said to be 8 GW. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are believed to have offered land for 19 GW and 5 GW respectively.
